Last week in Ligaya Garden #10

So much is happening, both here and outhere in the big world that we thought it worth doing a little catchup every Sunday and publish it on a Monday, Oz time. All of the posts will be listed here on this page for your elucidation and convenience. It’s been. A huge week in and around…

Rooted in the aquaponics

Today didn’t work out exactly as I expected. What was supposed to be a quick trim of the Carrot Herbs (Aethionema cordifolium) in bed 4 of the aquaponics turned into a complete clean out for that bed and number 5. What could the problem be? Over Winter, the lush growth of the Carrot Herbs hid…

Ligaya Gardening Tips #13 Pigeon Poo Percolator

Here’s a simple device to make your life less smelly. It’s our Pigeon Poo Percolator (I love alliteration!). It can be used to leach the goodness from chook poo too, but not dog poo and I haven’t tried human poo yet. All it is is two plastic spring water bottles. One stays completes, sits on…

We often get asked for gardening tips, so have decided to do a weekly post describing things we do to keep our garden going well with bugger all effort. I’ll collate them on this page. As Athena is pointing out on the pic above, many plants suffer from the cold over Winter. This is normal…

Solar window heater update

I’ve been fixing the window box heater. It’s been working OK over winter but not to its maximum. I’ll rebuild it over Summer and add a temperature control so that it only comes on when the air temperature in the box is over 20°C. I’ll use thick glass as the cover instead of thin perspex…

The switches are here!
