Colour

There’s so much colour in the garden today. The plants are celebrating the Sun. Who says plants can’t feel joy… I’m certain that ours can…I can feel it myself

The trees know it’s Spring

It’s that amazing time of year when seemingly dead sticks burst into flower and the dull, Winter garden becomes a riot of colour. For the trees, it’s all about reproduction but or us it’s about beauty and the promise of fruit. Our Sicilian Nectarine, Unknown Nectarine and Plum tree are positively radiant in their new…

Ligaya Gardening Tips #8 Watering in Winter and Spring

We often get asked for gardening tips, so have decided to do a weekly post describing things we do to keep our garden going well with bugger all effort. I’ll collate them on this page. It might seem counterintuitive but late Winter and early Spring are excellent times to start your watering regime for the…

Ligaya Gardening Tips #7 Winter’s bite

We often get asked for gardening tips, so have decided to do a weekly post describing things we do to keep our garden going well with bugger all effort. I’ll collate them on this page. As Athena is pointing out on the pic above, many plants suffer from the cold over Winter. This is normal…

We’re saving again!

Our newest additions

Retrofitting for Summer

Our  next door neighbours, Steve and Donna have been having trouble with the heat. We had access to a few extra resources and were sure the community could provide more, so decided to do what we could to retrofit the front of their house to protect it from the Sun. Their place is the same…

Vlog 2: It’s hot!

Summer’s here and the temperature is frequently topping 40°C. I usually go around the outside of the house and compare temperatures in full sun and in shade. This year I’ve made a video of most of my findings. Some might surprise you – they always do me! The take home lesson from all this is…
