Going for goji.
One of two Goji berry plants planted before the really hot weather starts. They are supposed to be uber nutritious, especially in the antioxidant department. Goji plants apparently need little water when established and tolerate -15°C to 40°C, making them ideal for my area.

Whirlybird.
I had a ‘whirlybird’ roof ventilator installed. They make a big difference to ventilation and heat build up in the roof in summer.
