Wild mustard and thistles. They will make a good salad starter. I found them next to a carpark in town.

Mushrooms growing in a carpark close to the centre of town. I’m not sure what kind these are, but remember having eaten them before.

Rosehips in time for cold and flu season.
Rosehips are around this time of the year, and appropriately, are full of vitamin C.

Keeping compost hot.
Bagging the compost bin against cold winds and inclement weather. A garbage bag helps to trap daytime temperature as well as stop the wind while being loose enough to allow air to move around the compost. It’s a cheap and efficient way to improve the efficiency of the composting process.

Our first (proper) solar panels.
A couple of 50W solar panels and a regulator, secondhand through the good graces of a friend. Its charging an old motorcycle battery at between 15 and 19V depending on the mood of the sun. Soon, I will have to mount it to the house and get a really good battery.
