Introducing our chooks #2 Pappy

Pappy is the daughter of Yurei and a Rhode Island Red. We actually got Yurei after Pappy came to stay with us because she was being mercilessly hounded and beaten by Mercy who was head chook then.

Now quite calm and content, Pappy was named after an old prison escape movie from the 70’s, ‘Papillion’. Pappy would take the any opportunity to fly the coop, from finding the tiniest gap in the fence and spending minutes slowly squeezing herself through, to rushing the gate in an all out prison break.

Luckily for us she is now a calming influence on the other members of the flock.
