Introducing our Chooks #1 Yurei

Yurei is our oldest girl, she’s a Silky and is the mother of Pappy. Yurei’s about 5 years old now and doesn’t lay any more but that’s OK. Our girls are much more than egg laying machines.

She was given the name ‘Yurei’, which is Japanese for ‘shadow’ because she was always getting under and behind things when she first arrived.

That timidity soon wore off and now, as the oldest and smallest of the flock, Yurei lives a life of ease, the bigger girls don’t hassle her much and she wanders around investigating possible edibles most of the day.
