Water-based remedies workshop

Nothing better than a traditional cuppa.
There’s not much better than a cuppa!

Local, Kitchen Herbalist, Malcolm of Ligaya Garden and Andrew’s Urban Farm (aka Joe’s connected Garden on the hill) will be running a 2 hour workshop from 10 am to 12:30ish on 20th July. I’ll teach you how to make herbal remedies using water as your solvent. The workshop is an extension of the kitchen herbalism basics workshop held at the Precinct at Playford recently, which was a gentle introduction to many of the basic remedies that you can make in your own kitchen. This will expand on part of that but is self contained, so you don’t need to have attended the first one.

We’ll cover teas and tisanes, infusions and decoctions and more than a little bit of theory but no maths! (Hooray!). A detailed set of course notes will be provided by email to all participants. Feel free to print it out and bring it along on the day.

The workshop will be a hand’s on exploration of the benefits of using water to extract the goodness from your herbs and we will be making at least one of each of the remedies listed above.

What to bring?

All of the necessary equipment is supplied but bring along your favourite tea cup and about 100 grams of your favourite herb, dried or fresh. Some really basic dried herbs will be supplied but if you want anything special but No Cannabis or Psilocybe fungi please! I acknowledge that these are wonderful medicines and I recommend them to many people but there are all kinds of sticky legal issues involved so, to make it easier for we organisers, please refrain from bringing any.

The venue

The workshop will be held at Andrew’s Urban Farm which is at 47 Northampton Crescent, Elizabeth East 5112.
