When we extended our aquaponics system recently, we exceeded the capacity of the existing pump to pump enough water through the additional pipes at a rate from which the plants could extract enough of the good stuff.
As it was, we were close to its maximum flow and not doing a very good job in the extreme heat (days regularly above 40°C).
So here’s our solution…a bigger pump.
This 5000 litre per hour pump s from ebay. Cost me under $60 Aud. Going too big means the pump runs inefficiently. As it is, this Biopro 5000 runs at just 45 Watts. Going to 6000 lph on most brands took us to over 100W.
