New friends this year

I’ve been spending a lot of time learning about garden insects this year. Consequently, I’ve seen some critters that I’ve not noticed visiting Ligaya Garden before.

I’d like to say that it’s the first year that they’ve been here but, in all likelihood, they’ve been here all along and my untrained mind just hasn’t registered them. As I’ve noted in past posts, taking the time to learn a good number of critter’s names and habits is the best way to learn to control pests without poisons and to immerse a little deeper ourselves into our gardens.

So here’s a little rogues gallery of some of the beneficial bugs that have made Ligaya Garden their home.

Behind the scenes, I’m writing a lot about beneficial insects, pests and pest control so soon, there will be whole pages dedicated to what they all do, identifying which is food and which is bad for the garden and how to control them without poisons
